The Rabbit Journal Tales

Archives

This is the archive for March 2008

The Rabbit Journal

will be on a short hiatus as GF and I move into our new digs at Rabbit Run.
And try to find a internet source that can handle my internet empire

Back soon

I'm out at Rabbit Run

for the next few days.
No tv
Limited radio
intermittent cell
no internet

Almost like living in the twentieth century again.
Back this weekend

Hmmm

How are things on the Lyme disease front after three separate regimes of antibiotics that lasted for a total of 14 weeks in 2007 and twice testing positive after treatment?

Well, only part of the results are in
Lyme Disease Ab, Quant, IgM 1.01 which is high but equivocal.

Anecdotally, the doctor told me he has seen more cases than normal last year. Since I had to ask for the test in the first place when I recognized the disease from previous bouts, I would say it's heightened awareness on the doctor's part
The other results such as the Western Blot will be in in a couple of weeks.
Standby.

The birds are busy building nests.
The daffodils have long since bloomed.

Just back

from "Rabbit Run", GF's and my, soon to be, new home and a most shocking thing happened last night
I was on the drive between the east and middle pasture when a rabbit shot out in front of me. He turned and ran almost to the barn before cutting back towards.

Whys that so shocking?

Rabbit Run got it’s name the same way most subdivision’s get theirs, on a whim. Like Babbling Brook subdivision has only a wet weather ditch or Twenty Lakes is referring to low spots on the old logging road or The Elms refers to the trees that were cut down to make room for the subdivision, Rabbit Run is the least likely place to ever see a rabbit unless it was hotfooting to someplace else because Rabbit Run is a 20 acre horse farm that consists mainly of pasture.

Oh, and GF is now officially a Bubbette, the feminine version of a Alabama Bubba. I, as a fine upstanding citizen and rabbit hunter, vouched for her and Alabama accepted her petition, granting her residence and a drivers license. She has forsook the title "Georgia Peach" and swore allegiance to the Yellow Hammer state. After over ten years of going through the proper steps consisting of dating, the permanent date, an understanding, pre-engagement, engagement and marriage, we are finally going to share one house together.
This should be a trip

GF and I were out at “Rabbit Run”

painting on Saturday, trying desperately to get finished with the three bedrooms and hall way so that we can have the carpet people in before the twenty first of March. WE Have to move in by 1 April. It won't be finished, so we'll just have to rough it.

Plunker called Saturday morning but used my home phone instead of my Leash (cell) and missed me. He wanted to know when I would be out at Rabbit Run, so I could show him where the Sausage Man lived. And to remind me that the semi-annual Ridge Grove BBQ was this coming Saturday, 15 March.
The Sausage Man is Capps Sausage that is around the corner from me. Most things are around the corner from me. The trouble is, out here in the semi-country is how far is it to the corner. He makes some wonderful patty, baby link and smoked link. Better get while the getting is good. He shuts down in April till this fall.
We all want to know from Hover how many of the puppies have survived so far?

Anyway, guess what?. It snowed.

Now I know that caused a yawn from Vern, but around here, four or five flakes and the schools will cancel classes. Ok, that’s not strictly true. If the forecasters say it might possibly snow, the government school administrators cancel classes.
The accumulation on Saturday would have had classes canceled for most of the week.
I do wish that it had stuck better. Few things in this world is as entertaining as watching a true southerner try to drive on ice and snow.

Speaking of Vern who is probably choking, trying to hold his laughter back (or possibly envy),

djmed asked about a camera,

mainly for hunting and fishing.

I think i asked you before for you experience in purchasing a digital camera. I am going to buy one this week
I've seen a couple HP from wal mart that are 5 mega pixel and have the 3x digital zoom.
they are under $100 and i think they would fill my needs which is mostly fish and game photos.
Any recommendations or advice is appreciated.

As everybody mostly knows, I'm world famous for my pictures. I’m legendary for some animal photos such as classics like “ Outhouse after the rabbit had passed” and “Hen Turkey’s: a study with the lens cap on” and “Bush that the deer was standing in front of”, so I was glad to pass on my vast knowledge of picture taking to djmed.

A deeper look at the subject is here

I currently use a HP 5 megapixel 3x optical zoom (m425) that I bought from one of the big box electronic stores on sale for $85. I added a 2 gb chip (holds 2,300 good quality pictures) for about $25 (if memory serves. The camera has a built in memory that is rather limited in size, about 12 pics at a good quality level. There are smaller chips than what I use at a cheaper price that will give you several hundred pictures). That gave me WAY more memory than I ever thought about using with that camera and you know how much I use them. But I do shoot in video mode occasionally.

Get a decent bag to tote it in. $10

The major drawback is that I like a viewfinder since the little screen on the back washes out in certain lighting situations. Good luck if you try to find a cheap camera with one now.

They take great pics for the first year and then it seems like the quality fades a little bit though they continue to take good pics.

Remember to use a picture processor of some type to email pics. The" in computer microsoft", when you select "email pics" will ask you about shrinking them for email.

Hover reports

that Dixie had nine pups and all are currently doing well.

would like to thank everybody that stopped by to read the 07-08 season. I hope you've enjoyed it as much as I have.

This will wind up the 07-08 Journal. As soon as I decompress, I'll design a new mast head for the 08-09 Journal.
Don't be strangers. I'll continue posting on items of interest, pre-season exercises, and such.

Keep'em running
