The Rabbit Journal Tales

This is the archive for March 2006

Maizie

goes to see Doc Caldwell today.
She was gone for a day before the guy who killed the 25 point buck called to say he had found her. Then, we think she took a stick to the eye that took a few days to heal. And she pulled up lame about the same time. The weight poured off of her.

Well, it's been three weeks and she still looks bony and she shivers all the time.

I can't ever seem

to get a decent picture of Lucy.

The current five dogs who make up

The Rabbit Journal Pack, Kate, Julie, Dixie, Maizie, and little Lucy, the Beaner dog, received their second dose of the worm medicine.

It was a lot easier than expected since I waited till a lone dog came past the storage room where the medicine was.

First was Dixie. She saw the chance to get some attention. I pinned her, pressed the corner of her mouth, inserted the syringe and shot it down her throat. With a hurt look she ran around the corner in the direction the other dogs were. Dixie must have told Julie some bs or other, because Julie, who is a little standoffish, came running up to me. After being pinned, pressed, inserted, shot, Julie dashed around the corner and Lucy appeared to see what was up.

Of the last two, Maizie was tougher than Kate. Kate I pinned in the middle of the yard. She “Phitoooed” her way across the yard with little hassle.

Maizie clamped down again. When she felt her mouth starting to open, she would jerk her head around causing my grip to slip. It ended up taking more time to get it down Maizie than it did the other four dogs.

I'm sure

that the East Alabama Rabbit Hunters & Souse Eaters Social Club would work a lot cheaper and have a lot more fun doing it..

"Seattle Parks and Recreation officials estimate that 150 to 250 rabbits currently live within several sections of Woodland and Green Lake parks."
"The cost to capture and sterilize a rabbit is about $100 each."

Yeah, I know. But they would wise up fast.

Dixie, Julie and Maizie

got their rabies shots today. Kate, due 5/06 and Lucy, due 12/06 just went along for the ride. Intestinal worm medicine was supplied by Dr. Caldwell and is to be given 4 ml for 3 days. Poor Dogs! They thought when they got in the box that they were going to chase rabbits.

The last hunt of the season

for The Rabbit Journal 05-06 has been posted

I know ya’ll

are just sitting on the edge of your seat wanting to know how the “date” is going?

Well, Precious decided that yesterday she was entirely to forward and toned down the blatant hussiness she displayed at the first date. The results were pretty much the same. Just Red Dog ain’t as tired from running from her advances. Maybe I should get a couple of stand-ins.
Think Cuz would know?
Finally, I resorted to drastic measures
wire dog box
You know, make it more difficult for Red Dog to retreat. So how did that work?

Good Morning

Red Dog has a return visit with Precious today. If Middle Boy don't forget. Red Dog didn't have a clue what was going on yesterday. Precious was ready and tried everything but a date rape drug. Cuz and Rye suggested that I demonstrate. I declined.
Of course, at Rye's and Cuz's age, it's doubtful if they could do more than give a "hand" . And djmed requested that I don't take any xxx pictures for posting
He is a fine looking dog. I just hope he ain't a little light in the loafers.

Ya’ll will have to excuse me for the day,

I have to chaperon a date between Precious and Middle Boy's Red Dog

And yes, this is the first post of a brand spanking new Rabbit Journal 06-07.
