A worthy adversary
As djmed noted, we had 8 by lunch with the only spoiler being Cuz’s Betsy running a deer. Then when Brag was trying to call Betsy off, Penny, Lucy and Katie thought he was calling them and went to Betsy. Katie, of course, broke off when she realized it was trash. Penny kept going and Brag lit her up with one of eight levels of stimulation. Lucy avoided the electric pine limb by way of a new tactic. She was running silent and Brag didn't know she was on the trash until it was to late to shock her
All of the morning races were short. And Cuz was hot. He was high man for the day with four
Cuz started us off and Mark took the second rabbit
Rye's rabbit came after Rye saw him four times. He ran between us three times and I never saw him despite Rye's warnings that he was coming.

After lunch we got our final four. We would have gotten more but I’m glad we didn’t.
What? What am I crazy?
Nope, we had one of the best races of the year and I wouldn‘t have missed it for the world.
There were only three dogs involved and they were the Rabbit Journal’s pack consisting of Katie, Lucy and the six month old Penny. Penny, incidentally, has came a looong way from the Hwy 315 hunts.
The rabbit skirted hunter after hunter, either without being seen or not enough time to raise the gun. Occasionally, he would dip down into a waterlogged bottom, on one of his many long clockwise loops, but he still couldn’t shake the “girls”.
He got past me on two occasions that I’m still not sure how he did it. Once, I must have walked past him. He was a worthy adversary that knew all the tricks
I wasn’t the only one that he suckered, of course. We crisscrossed that hill and bottom all afternoon trying to cut him off.
For over two hours the girls stayed on his tail. And I do mean his tail. When Dustin, one of the senior teats, who was doing a little bit of independent studies today, made the kill, the girls were only 30-40 yards behind.

It truly was a outstanding race, superbly ran by the pack. Brag and I were busting the buttons off of our shirts, in pride.
Todays score
Cuz 4
Dustin 3
Cuz’s Boy 2
Plunker 1
Mark 1
Rye 1
Brag and Rimfire, well, you know we don’t keep up with such, but suffice to say, “we didn’t even fire a shot” and I didn’t see a rabbit. A live one, anyway.
