Hey ThinWater

Here's a chance to ask the Alabama CAB any questions you got and listen to what the deer hunters are demanding.

CONTACT: Robin Nummy
334-242-3486

The Alabama Conservation Advisory Board will meet Saturday, May 19, 2007, at the Huntsville Museum of Art located at 300 Church Street, South in Huntsville, Alabama. This is the Advisory Board’s third meeting during 2007. Registration for those wishing to address the board will be from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. The meeting will begin promptly at 9 a.m.

The Conservation Advisory Board assists and advises on matters relating to the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The Board is composed of 10 members appointed by the governor for alternating terms of six years, and three ex-officio members in the persons of the Governor, the Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries, and the Director of the Cooperative Extension System. The Commissioner of Conservation and Natural Resources serves as the ex-officio secretary of the Board.

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources promotes wise stewardship, management and enjoyment of Alabama’s natural resources through five divisions: Marine Police, Marine Resources, State Parks, State Lands, and Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries. Your say

I've got no questions, but if time permits it might be interesting to see what kind of B.S. ideas go into the hunting season and its rules.

One thing I would like to point out is that CAB is free to vote on rules and regulations If they have been "discussed" at a previous meeting. The word "discussed" is kind of vague since I remember that crossbows and decoys were voted on with no notification of a vote after being "discussed"

In other words, if they talked about extending deer season through the end of February (they didn't...that I know of) at a previous meeting, they would be free to vote on the matter without notification.
They do have a Lot of power.
"By a two-thirds vote of the members present and with the governor’s approval, the board can amend, make any changes, repeal or create and promulgate additional rules and regulations."
