The Rabbit Journal Tales

Meet the newest member of

The Rabbit Journal Pack.
Technically, the copper nosed puppy belongs to Brag, a gift from his wife.
Which means that Brag'll play with if for a week or two, then she will be moved over here into the pen with her new aunties where I'll be the one blessed with the night squalls and such till she gets used to the demotion from pet to working dog

My little brother and I ran our dogs Saturday afternoon. His younger dog was more help than hinder this time because he took him out by himself running about an hour before we took all the dogs. Johny Ringo (the yonger male) was already half tuckered out from a 45 minute race alone. He jumped first two of the four rabbits that we ran that afternoon and led the front mainly because he is fast. He blows the corners out often but the other dogs lines him back out.
One funny thing that happened is that when they were cold trailing one rabbit working to get him up, the rabbit set and let all 6 dogs practically trample him. When all dogs had walked smack over him he bolted straight backwards behind them. They never knew it. We called them on his direction and it was a short race with a quick lose.

I was talkin to some of my buddies at school the other day and one of my friends has a friend that has 2 beagles and 1 basset hound that run rabbits. The boy goes to my school but i just have never talked to him but now me and him are perty "tight" and we hang out alot here lately.Annyways,I was tellin him about me bein a member of the E.A.R.H&S.E.S.C and about my dogs and everything.I found that he lives just up the road from me and has about 400 acres that is loaded with rabbits. He is 16 and was wanting me to ask you if whenever I come up to hunt with yall,if he might could come as well. It's alright if he cant because he already has plenty of land to hunt on and he isn't even sure if he would be able to join us on a hunt but was just wanting me to ask and make sure if it would be ok if he ever went with us.

Thinwater checked on me this morning, wondering why I haven't posted or commented since I do seem to run my mouth on a regular basis.

Sorry about that. Busy busy busy, trying to get all my rabbits in a row before hunting season interfers.

2 and I have to take the 2+3 back to it's home port of Apalachicola (don't that sound grand? lol) in the next week or so.

GF and I are shopping for property. We sold a deeded lakefront property and need to shelter the profits from the taxman.

I liked the names suggested by Hudson and djmed for the new pup though I think I would have ended up calling her Ginnie. All the dogs currently have names ending in the sound e. Easier to hit those high notes when your yelling for them.
Anyway, Brag's wife decided to name the new dog for us.....Penny

Oh, and Hudson, I don't see any reason why not beyond me talking to parents well before hand. Just remember a decent writer can make even the most mundane sound enjoyable.

I've got a bunch more to say, but I have to choke down the oatmeal and get over to 2's.
Did I ever tell you that I hate oatmeal?
I did?

Several times in fact?
Shame it doesn't work on the memory in addition to the cholesterol

We're going to look at a little piece of property out past Dixie
