The Rabbit Journal Tales

I often mention

Uncle NoPass in my posts on rabbit hunting.
He earned the name from his constant telling of 3 years 9 months and 22 days without a pass in the Pacific theater during WWII.
He had a brother, One Eyed Charlie, who was also a rabbit hunter, but he served in the European theater.
On June 6, 1944, One Eyed Charlie (though he had two eyes at the time) stormed ashore at Omaha Beach, not with a gun but with a medic bag. It had to have taken a lot of guts to do that with a gun, but it takes even more to do it with a medic bag and render aid to the wounded on that horrible day

Your say

I remember as a kid hearing the vets say that the reason they fought so hard that day was that it was easier going forward than it was trying to swim back to England. Our country has a lot to be proud of and those men than came off those boats are among our finest.
